VETERANS & BARBERS
The NOL, through primary research, understands that Veterans and Barbers have the skills and willpower to accomplish its mission. Veterans will serve as Coaches, Mentors, and Counselors (CMC), and Barbers will be assistant CMC’s. A 2016 Huffington Post article entitled: Transitioning Veterans Common Core Strengths, along with years of studying barbers and barber shops by the NOL founder, produced the following conclusions:

- Accountability/Dependability: Consistently meet the mission requirements

- Commitment to Excellence: Evolving aptitude and high standards of performance

- Integrity: Commitment to being a team player, including the importance of being humble
- Ability to Influence: Understanding what others need and providing service/support that benefits all
- Understand Emotional Intelligence: Effectively manage your emotions and interpersonal relationships.
- Effective Communication: Build and sustain rapport with all personality styles and rank
- Displaying Adaptability: Be open and respect other people’s ideas and capabilities.
- Handle stressful situations: Knowing that you have endured and succeeded in similar high-stress situations
- Embrace life-long learning: Quickly grasping new technical and leadership knowledge
- Being an immediate contributor - Proactively positioning yourself to be ready when needed
